Bettina Khano
SPLINTERS, 2015

Glas, nylon threads, various dimensions

Bettina Khano engages with notions of presence and absence, she queries the precarious relationship between here and elsewhere. Where are we, when we say “here” in this day and age? The issue is situatedness. The context will define the materials, the project will specify their use, incidental situations emerge from moments she loosely weaves together. Her works give space to the ephemeral, as in Cloud which disappears from the beginning, as in a fold that has no starting point, like a walk, infinite and specific. In 2016/17 Bettina Khano was the artist-in-residence at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, CA. She lives and works in Berlin.
